THE AIM SOCIETY

COMMUNITY IS NOT JUST AN IDEA. IT IS A CALL TO ACTION.

AIM

The AIM Society is a community-rooted arts organisation based in Manenberg, Cape Town. Founded by Darion Adams, AIM stands for Art in Manenberg. We create spaces where stories can be told, healing can take place, and futures can be imagined through the power of performance, conversation, and collaboration.

What began as a small initiative has grown into a dynamic platform supporting emerging artists, hosting community events, and reimagining possibilities for socially engaged art. From dance workshops and physical theatre to public film screenings and critical conversations, AIM builds bridges between creativity and social justice.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe in the transformative power of art to ignite change. Every project we undertake is an invitation to connect, to reflect, and to act. We honour local voices, indigenous knowledge systems, and use art as a tool to shift narratives, break boundaries, and activate real-world transformation. We understand that community is a collective effort, and art is the bridge that unites us all.

At AIM, we don’t just make art. We make impact

passion and commitment to community

Darion has performed, facilitated, engaged with community since their childhood. Starting first with being a runner at holiday programs in Manenberg to founding The AIM Society, Darion's commitment to community is a testament that working artists can thrive while remaining rooted to their upbringing. Honing in on the future generations is what drives Darion's creative life.
