Darion Adams

Darion Adams is a multifaceted freelance artist, dancer, educator, choreographer, and project coordinator, who graduated from the UCT Centre for Theatre Dance and Performance Studies and Jazzart Dance Theatre. They use dance as a transformative tool to explore identity politics, heritage, and their Queer indigenous experience. Darion has collaborated with various renowned companies, including Unmute Dance Company, Queer Feminist Film Festival, Sunshine Cinema, and Hear My Voice SA.

Their notable works include choreographing "//is ge sada, sada ge //is... she is us and we are her" for Infecting the City 2023 and performing their solo piece STAND TF UP at the Baxter Theatre's Live Art Weekend. 

As the Founder of The AIM Society, Darion is committed to reshaping the cultural landscape of Manenberg through multidisciplinary arts initiatives, including Art in Manenberg and Dance at AIM. They also play a key role as Co-curator and social media manager for the Koena Art Institute.

Passionate about screen dance films, Darion's works have been screened internationally. Their films Perspective: Triptych and Reclamation: Home have gained recognition, with When You’re Gone featured in various festivals.
